Community

I have always wanted to feel a sense of community with the gay community. I think more than anything, I want to gain friends that have the same morals I do. I have expressed this to my boyfriend many times already. I want more gay friends. And not just any gay friends. In particular, I want to have other couple friends. I want to go on double dates with my boyfriend and my friends. I think this expression is just my mature side coming out. Being 22, not many gays my age are ready to settle down, marry, and have kids. But I honestly think I am pretty close. I have found the one I plan on marrying one day. The next step is finding friends that share similar ideas to ours, and have gone through what we have gone through.

Disconnecting Myself

"Ok I'll admit!!! I am addicted to online social media. :-( It's something that is sweeping the Internet and everyone, most everyone, is apart of. It's hard to say, but I just do not want to be apart of the Facebook social media part. I have been on there for two years, possibly over 2,000 status updates, and even more likes and comments. Out of the blue, my boyfriend tells me that he is deactivating his Facebook account. He says he spends too much time on Facebook. This made me realize that I do the same, but probably worse.

Many times when I plan on studying or reading some of my books, Facebook somehow finds a way to lure me in. Whether it's just sitting there with the home screen waiting for people to update or searching through friends pictures and status updates. This is horrible. Suddenly two hours later

Hello Again World

Hey guys, I have been so busy as of late. School, work, and the boyfriend have been using me a lot. The latter I am not too stressed about. He makes me happier than a kid eating a lollipop. This is most likely going to turn into a geek post. Sorry to my non geeky viewers.

So back in the day, around 2003, I was acting like a little girl when Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released on the PC. I could tell I was going to be staying up till 3 a.m. every morning just to play as a Jedi. If you have never heard of it, then google it, and if your interested, Target sells it for $20 or you can find it online for cheaper. So, to the present, well, future, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, ok I just lost half of you. Its like WoW(World of Warcraft), but 10 times cooler. It isn't known when it is coming out, some people are saying later this year, I'm hoping sooner than later.

Living Healthy

One of the best things that you can do in your life to keep your self healthy is to work out. Yes, eating healthy helps, but working out keeps your body functioning. So eating healthy and working out could create a barrier against many of the diseases that plague our world. Many people aren't sure what to do to lose weight, and many think that it is okay to eat fast food and never work out, as long as they stay within the calorie limit. Well, that's not true. Our bodies all work differently.

Some people have faster metabolisms than others, and for those of us who have to work harder to lose weight, easting fast food can be a death sentence. My last visit to the doctor had me shocked. My cholesterol was above the recommended range. I kinda freaked out seeing it, and have knocked a lot of things out of my diet. For one, sodas are the devil. STOP drinking sodas, they will be the death of you. For those that think diet sodas are better, think again. It's worse because there are more chemicals in there to make it diet. Weird huh?

Texas, you bore me

I do have to admit, if it weren't for my boyfriend, I would most likely be saving up to move out of state, somewhere closer to the West Coast. Possibly somewhere in Washington or California. Even if I were never to move to either place, I would love to visit some day. Ever since learning what the Castro street was, I have always been intrigued on visiting a gay neighborhood that is as large as this area. Montrose in Houston is a gay neighborhood, but there are still a good majority of straight people, and more homeless people than you can count on all fingers and toes, times 50.

I have always wanted to play a part in the community, but living 30 minutes north of it can be a hassle. Since Annise Parker was elected in 2008 as the first gay mayor of a large city, I have wanted to play a bigger part in my community. I have gone to many gay pride parades, and have even hit up many of the gay clubs. I think my next step is to volunteer at a homeless shelter, or HATCH(Houston Area Teen Coalition of Homosexuals), or even an AIDs center. One of these things would definitely satisfy my need to contribute to the GLBT community.

So The Rumor Goes...

...that gay people are the best fashionistas. Then how come I am terrible at dressing my own self. I mean, I know how to match colors, but when it comes to matching my tops with my bottoms, then with my shoes and any extra accessories. I like to think that what I actually do dress in looks nice, but there is always that voice in my head telling me that what I am wearing looks horrible. Now I don't mean to sound superficial with this post, but I do like to make myself feel good about wearing something that looks good to me.

I think I end up correcting my boyfriend more than I end up correcting my own style. Sadly, now when he buys clothes, he makes sure to get them 'approved' by me. I never said he needed to do this, but I guess he would rather confirm the clothes first, before they are purchased.

Wanting a Child

Every time I have to shop for baby items for a friend's baby shower, I continue to want a kid more and more. Just the thought of raising a child gets me excited. It's easy for straight people to just up and decide to have a baby. But for a gay couple, adopting a child, or having a surrogate can be expensive, and that can be even before the child is born. I look at my friends that have children and somewhat envy that relationship.

I'm not sure why I have such a need for a child. I have thought about it long and hard. Why would a twenty-two year old, who has a retail job, want a child. I have came to the conclusion that it is because I always yearned for a younger sibling, but never received one. That's right, I am the baby of the family and was always influenced by what my older brother and sisters did. I never got the chance to influence anyone else. So this need to influence someone else comes out to a child for me. And when I say influence, I don't mean that this child will do everything exactly like me. I want my child to know that s/he is free to make his/her own decisions. But being able to influence them in the way to a healthy and happy life.
